Hi, friends! August is almost over and I don’t know where it went. This month was full of road trips and good friends. My best friend, Sydney, visited from Kentucky and went to Colorado with us to visit Ben’s parents. Summer is officially over and I am very ready for cooler temperatures and autumn favorites.
Before closing this August chapter, I wanted to share a few things that have inspired me this month.
- This song. It is on repeat while I bake and clean in the mornings (and as I’m writing this post!) It is so calm and sweet 🙂
- Anthropologie’s Sweet Vanilla Cinnamon candle. I burned the Espresso scent all summer, but this one just feels like fall is on the way!
- Lavender everything. Sydney and I made these macarons when she visited a few weeks ago. They are a tricky little dessert that was worth every effort. The recipe calls for dried lavender, but that is impossible to find in my tiny Iowa town. We used 3 drops of lavender essential oil as a substitute, and they were great!
- This book. I read Wild and Free as part of the launch team in May, but have been reading it again in preparation for a women’s small group (that starts tonight!). Here is a quote that sums up the message of the book:
“The point is that no matter where our gaze is right now, we’re trapped by expectation and it seems like we’re destined to fail. Our eyes dart about from habitat to habitat, wondering what is wrong with us and looking for ways we can become more like the perfect woman, whoever she is. But there is a way back. There is a way home. In our lifetimes, we probably won’t return to the Garden of Eden to all live there peacefully together, but by looking closer at our good God, we can drown out the noise and hear a little more clearly.”
Jess Connolly- Chapter 1.
Ben and I are leaving soon to help pick grapes at our friend’s winery. Life here in Iowa is sweet and full. To finish off this post, enjoy a photo from our hiking day in Colorado!
Grace and Peace,
